Call for Expressions of Interest Director Appointment – Doctor in Training (DiT) - Doctors Health Services Pty Ltd (Drs4Drs)
Doctors Health Services Pty Ltd (Drs4Drs) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Australian Medical Association (AMA). Drs4Drs is a national charitable organisation dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of doctors and medical students across Australia.
Governed by a skills-based Board, Drs4Drs is seeking to appoint a Doctor in Training (DiT) Director to contribute to its governance, strategic oversight and long-term sustainability.

On behalf of the Board Chair, Dr Iain Dunlop, expressions of interest are invited from Doctors in Training who are interested in contributing to Board-level governance and bringing contemporary insight from medical training environments to support the organisation’s mission.
This is a governance role, not an advocacy or representative role. The DiT Director is appointed as a full Board Director and holds the same fiduciary, legal and ethical responsibilities as all other Directors.
Role Description
The DiT Director contributes to the effective governance and strategic oversight of Drs4Drs. The role brings a contemporary understanding of medical training environments to inform Board decision-making, while acting at all times in the best interests of Drs4Drs.

Key Information:
- The appointment is remunerated and is for a four year term.
- Applicants must be a Doctor in Training currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
- The Board meets approximately four times per year, either in person or virtually.
- Additional time may be required for meeting preparation, participation in Board sub-committees, and director development activities.
- Directors must be eligible for registration with the Australian Government’s Director Identification Number (DIN) system.
- If the Director ceases to be a Doctor in Training during the term due to completion of training, they may remain in office for the remainder of their term.
Support Provided:
- Director induction and education will be provided to the successful candidate.
- Board members are supported by a professional secretariat and experienced governance advisors.
Appointment process:
Interested applicants are invited to submit a current CV and cover letter (1-2 pages) outlining:
- their interest in the DiT Director role
- how their experience and perspective would contribute to effective Board governance; and
- any relevant experience in governance, leadership, committees or strategic decision-making.
Prior director or committee experience and formal director education are desirable but not required.
EOIs will be reviewed by a selection panel comprising representatives from the Drs4Drs Board, and individuals with relevant governance expertise. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview (via video conference). The preferred candidate will be recommended to the AMA Nominations Committee, with final endorsement by the Board of AMA Limited.
