Mental Health Victoria is now providing the newly-structured, cost effective Foundations of Peer Work Program, a 2-day course covering the following:
DAY ONE - March 25
Module 1 - Approaches and Frameworks:
π Words and language make a difference
π The historical context of peer work
π Values and central philosophies of peer work
π The mental health service system
π Frames of reference about mental illness/distress
π Recovery oriented frameworks and approaches

Module 2 - Understanding the Peer Work Role:
π Consumer & Carer Peer worker role and structures
π Establish & maintain effective relationships with consumers and carers
π Explore consumer and carer preferences, values, needs and goals
π SMART goal setting
π Key tasks of the Peer Worker in Goal Attainment
π Working collaboratively
π Key tasks of a worker β Community of Practice & Reflective Practice
DAY TWO - March 26
Module 3 - Legal & Ethical Considerations:
π Mental Health & Wellbeing Act 2022
π Introduction to National Standards for Mental Health Services
π Duty of care and dignity of risk
π Ethical Practice
π Integrating ethical principles into team practice
